Peacock Eel
Peacock Eel
The Peacock Eel has long been a popular species in the aquarium trade. They come from slow-moving rivers in the wild, so the aquarium's water flow should be gentle and not direct. The Peacock Eel will grow to be 1 foot in length and will need enough space. They require pristine water since this eel is vulnerable to parasites and fungal diseases. During the day, they will spend their time hiding or buried in the substrate. This is why sandy substrates and plenty of hiding places are essential. Try feeding them freeze dried brine shrimp or blood worms when the tank lights are off since they are nocturnal feeders. Because Peacock Eels are famously picky eaters, their daily diet must be varied and tailored to each individual's preferences.
